What is Stress?
Stress is something we feel when we have too much going on or when something makes us feel worried, scared, or overwhelmed. Imagine carrying a heavy backpack with lots of books—it can be hard and tiring!
What Causes Stress?
There are many reasons why kids might feel stressed. Here are a few:
- Schoolwork: If you have a lot of homework or a big test coming up, it can feel stressful.
- Friendships: Sometimes, having problems with friends or feeling left out can make you feel stressed.
- Family Issues: Changes at home, like moving to a new house or parents arguing, can be hard to handle.
- Sports and Activities: Wanting to do well in sports or activities can sometimes make you feel nervous.
How to Handle Stress
Just like we can lighten our backpacks, there are ways to handle stress! Here are some tips:
- Talk About It: Share your feelings with a parent, teacher, or friend. Talking can really help!
- Take Deep Breaths: When you feel stressed, you can take a few deep breaths. Inhale through your nose, hold it for a second, and then slowly exhale through your mouth.
- Play and Have Fun: Doing something you love, like playing outside, drawing, or playing games, can help you forget your worries for a while.
- Get Some Exercise: Running, jumping, or even dancing can make you feel better and reduce stress.
- Soothing Activities: Try reading a book, listening to music, or doing a puzzle to calm your mind.
Remember!
It’s okay to feel stressed sometimes. Everyone does! The important thing is to find ways to cope with it. If you ever feel really overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to ask for help!
