What is Anger?

Anger is a feeling that everyone has sometimes, even kids! It’s what we feel when things don’t go the way we want them to. For example, maybe you were playing with a toy and someone took it away from you. That can make you feel angry!

Why Do We Feel Angry?

We feel angry because we care about things. When something happens that we don’t like, like someone hurting our feelings or not sharing, our bodies can feel funny, and our hearts can beat faster. It’s like a little alarm going off inside of us!

What Can We Do with Anger?

It’s okay to feel angry, but we need to find ways to handle it:

  • Talk About It: You can tell a grown-up or a friend how you feel. They can help you feel better!
  • Take Deep Breaths: When you feel angry, take a big breath in through your nose, hold it for a second, and then let it out through your mouth. This helps calm your body down.
  • Count to 10: Counting gives you a moment to think before reacting, which can make you feel better.
  • Do Something Fun: You might want to color, play outside, or listen to music! Doing something you love can help change your mood.

Remember!

It’s perfectly okay to feel angry sometimes! Everyone does. What matters is how we deal with that feeling. We want to use our words and actions to make things better, not worse. So next time you feel angry, you can use these tips to help!
