What is Present Simple?
The present simple tense is used to talk about things that happen regularly or facts that are always true. When we describe what we do every day, we often use the present simple tense. It helps us talk about habits, routines, and things that are happening now or always.
How to Use Present Simple
1. **Subject + Base Form of the Verb:**
To make a sentence in the present simple, we usually follow this pattern:
Subject + Verb
For example:
- I eat breakfast every morning.
- She plays soccer on Wednesdays.
2. **Adding 's' for He/She/It:**
When we talk about he, she, or it, we usually add an 's' or 'es' to the verb:
For example:
- He eats breakfast every morning.
- She plays soccer on Wednesdays.
3. **Negative Sentences:**
To make a negative sentence, we use 'do not' or 'does not':
Subject + do/does not + Base Form of the Verb
For example:
- I do not eat breakfast on Saturdays.
- She does not play soccer on Sundays.
4. **Questions:**
To ask questions, we switch the order of the subject and 'do/does':
Do/Does + Subject + Base Form of the Verb?
For example:
- Do you eat breakfast every morning?
- Does he play soccer on Wednesdays?
