A simple explanation about clouds, how they form, and how they bring rain, suitable for children aged 6.
Clouds are fluffy, white things that you see in the sky. They are made up of tiny water droplets or ice crystals. Imagine tiny, tiny fish swimming in the air; those are what make up clouds!
Clouds form when warm air goes up into the sky. When the warm air rises, it gets cooler. As it cools down, the water in the air turns into tiny droplets. These droplets stick together and become clouds!
When clouds start to gather a lot of water droplets, they become heavier and thicker. Think of it like a sponge that gets full of water. When the sponge is too full, the water drips out. Just like that, when clouds are so heavy with water, the droplets fall from the clouds and come down to us as rain!
After it rains, the earth drinks up the water. Flowers bloom, grass grows, and animals get to drink fresh water. Rain is super important for all living things!
Did you know that there are different types of clouds? Some are fluffy like cotton candy, and others are gray and dark. The fluffy ones usually mean nice weather, while the dark ones can mean that rain is on the way!
