The sky looks blue because of a process called scattering.

Here's how it works:

  1. Sunlight: The light from the sun looks white, but it is made up of many different colors. You can see these colors when a rainbow is made!
  2. Atmosphere: The air around us is called the atmosphere. It is made up of tiny particles and gases.
  3. Scattering: When sunlight enters the atmosphere, it hits these tiny particles, and this causes the different colors to scatter in different directions. Blue light scatters more than other colors because it travels in shorter, smaller waves.
  4. Blue Sky: Since blue light is scattered all over the sky, when we look up during the day, we see a blue sky!

So, the next time you look up at the sky, remember that it is blue because of how sunlight interacts with the air!
