Procedure

Arc Welding:

  1. Set up the arc welding machine and connect the electrode.
  2. Put on your protective gear.
  3. Turn on the power to the welding machine.
  4. Hold the electrode at a 75-degree angle to the metal surface.
  5. Strike an arc by briefly touching the electrode to the metal, then pulling it back slightly. This creates a molten pool of metal.
  6. Move the electrode along the joint to create a weld bead.
  7. Let the weld cool before touching it.

Oxyacetylene Welding:

  1. Set up the oxyacetylene torch with the oxygen and acetylene cylinders.
  2. Adjust the flame until it is a neutral flame (not too much oxygen or acetylene).
  3. Put on the welding goggles and protective gear.
  4. Hold the torch and point the flame at the metal to heat it until it starts glowing.
  5. Add filler rod to the molten pool to strengthen the joint.
  6. Carefully move the flame along the joint to create the weld.
  7. Allow the joint to cool before handling.

Safety Precautions

  • Always wear protective gear to shield against sparks and heat.
  • Ensure proper ventilation in the welding area to avoid harmful fumes.
  • Keep flammable materials away from the welding area.
  • Never work on the welding equipment without proper supervision.
