Who Discovered the First Watermelon?

The first known watermelon was discovered in Africa, more specifically, in a region called the Kalahari Desert. This was a very long time ago, around 4,000 years ago! The people living in that area, including ancient Egyptians, found that the watermelon grew naturally. They began to enjoy eating it because it tastes sweet and is full of water, which was especially important in hot deserts.

Over time, watermelons spread to other parts of the world. Ancient Egyptians even had paintings of watermelons on their walls, showing how much they liked this fruit!

So, while we don’t know the exact name of the person who discovered the very first watermelon, we do know that many ancient cultures, especially in Africa, learned to find and enjoy it first.
