When we heat popcorn, it gets very hot inside. Popcorn has a hard shell that holds in moisture. When the heat makes the water inside turn to steam, the pressure builds up. Finally, the pressure gets so strong that the kernel bursts open! This is the pop we hear!

When popcorn pops, it turns into a fluffy white snack that we can eat. It looks like a little cloud!
