What are Boundaries?
Boundaries are like invisible lines that help us know where our own body ends, and where someone else's body begins. When we respect these lines, we feel safe and happy!
Why are Boundaries Important?
Boundaries are important because they help us understand what makes us comfortable or uncomfortable. Just like how we don’t like it when someone stands too close, we also need to be gentle and respectful of others’ space.
How to Recognize Boundaries
- Personal Space: When you are talking to someone, it's nice to give them some space. Stand about an arm's length away.
- Listening to Feelings: If a friend says, 'I don't want to hug right now,' it’s important to listen and respect their feelings.
- When to Touch: Always ask before giving hugs or touching someone. You can say, 'Can I give you a hug?' That way, everyone knows it's okay!
How to Set Your Own Boundaries
It's okay to say how you feel! If something makes you uncomfortable, you can say, 'Please stop,' or 'I need some space.' This helps everyone understand your boundaries.
Practice with Trust
Ask a parent or a teacher to practice with you. They can help you learn how to set boundaries and respect others' boundaries in a safe space. Remember, it's all about feeling safe and happy!
