Snowdrops and Melting Snow
Hi there! Today, we’re going to learn about snowdrops and melting snow. Have you ever seen flowers when there’s still snow on the ground? Snowdrops are special flowers that can grow just when the snow is starting to melt!
What are Snowdrops?
Snowdrops are small white flowers that usually bloom in early spring. They come up when the weather is still cold, and you might see them poking through the snow. Isn’t that cool? They are one of the first flowers to say, “Hello, spring is coming!”
What is Melting Snow?
When the temperature gets warmer, the snow begins to melt. This means the snow turns into water and goes away. Melting snow happens as the weather changes from winter to spring. It helps the flowers, like snowdrops, to grow and have the water they need!
How are They Connected?
When the snow melts, it makes the ground soft and wet, which is perfect for the snowdrops to grow. They can come out of the ground and show their beautiful white flowers, even when there’s still some snow around them.
So, you can think of snowdrops as little flowers that love to dance in the sunshine after the snow is gone! Next time you see snow melting, look out for those pretty snowdrops!
Fun Activity!
You can go outside and see if you can spot any snowdrops while the snow is melting. Just remember to wear your boots, so your feet don’t get wet!
