The present simple tense is a way to talk about things that happen regularly or are true now. We use it to describe habits, routines, and facts.

How to Form the Present Simple

1. **For most verbs:** Just use the base form of the verb. For example, play, eat, and run.

  • I play soccer.
  • They eat breakfast.
  • We run every day.

2. **For he, she, or it:** Add an -s or -es to the verb. For example:

  • He plays soccer.
  • She eats breakfast.
  • It runs fast.

When Do We Use the Present Simple?

  1. Habits: Things we do regularly.
    • I brush my teeth twice a day.
  2. Facts: Things that are always true.
    • The sun rises in the east.
  3. Timetables: Things that are scheduled.
    • School starts at 9 AM.

Important Points to Remember

- Use do or does for questions:

  • Do you like ice cream?
  • Does she play the piano?

- Use don't (do not) or doesn't (does not) for negatives:

  • I don't like broccoli.
