How Do Cicadas Shed Their Skins? A Simple Guide for 3-Year-Olds

Cicadas are special bugs that make a loud sound in the summer. They have a neat trick: they shed their old skin to grow! Here’s how they do it:

1. Sleeping Underground: First, cicada babies live in the ground for a long time. They drink tree juice and grow bigger.
2. Getting Ready: When they are ready to come out, they climb up a tree or a plant.
3. Shedding Their Skin: Then, they find a spot and start to wiggle! They break out of their old skin and leave it behind.
