Jesse Owens was a very fast runner and a famous athlete who became well-known for his amazing achievements in track and field. He was born on September 12, 1913, and he showed his running talent when he was just a child.
One of Jesse's biggest accomplishments happened at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. There, he ran so fast that he won four gold medals! This means he was the best in the world in four different races. The races he won were:
