What is a Space Walk?
A space walk, also known as an EVA (Extra-Vehicular Activity), is when astronauts leave their spacecraft to work in the open space. It is an incredible experience that allows them to repair equipment, conduct experiments, or simply enjoy the unique view of Earth from above.
Why Do Astronauts Go Outside?
Astronauts go outside their spacecraft for several reasons:
- Repairs: Sometimes, the spacecraft needs fixing, and astronauts must go outside to fix it.
- Experiments: Certain experiments can only be conducted in space, where there is no atmosphere.
- Maintenance: Astronauts check and maintain things like solar panels or cameras on the outside of the spacecraft.
Watch a Real Space Walk
To see a real space walk, you can watch videos from NASA or other space agencies. These videos show astronauts floating in space, working on their tasks, and even giving us views of Earth! Here’s a special video you can check out:
In this video, you will see how astronauts prepare, how they move in zero gravity, and what it looks like to be in space. Enjoy exploring!
