Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand the importance of physical activity while traveling and engage in various physical activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Open space for physical activities
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes
  • Water bottle

Activities

  1. Warm-up: Start with a fun travel-themed dance to get your body moving. Choose a catchy travel song and create simple dance moves to go along with it. Dance for at least 5 minutes to warm up your muscles.

  2. Passport Relay: Set up a course with cones or markers. Each marker represents a different country or landmark. Start at one end and pretend to travel to each marker by doing a specific physical activity. For example, at the Eiffel Tower marker, do 10 jumping jacks. Keep track of your "passport stamps" by marking them down on a piece of paper.

  3. Yoga Around the World: Choose a few yoga poses that represent different countries or animals from around the world. For example, do a tree pose for Canada, a cobra pose for India, or a kangaroo pose for Australia. Practice each pose for a few breaths and imagine yourself traveling to those places.

  4. Travel Scavenger Hunt: Create a list of travel-related items or landmarks that can be found in your immediate surroundings. Go on a scavenger hunt to find them while walking or running. For example, find a stop sign, a mailbox, or a tree. Check off each item as you find them.
