Objective

By the end of this lesson, the 2 year old student will have a basic understanding of hearts and love, and be able to engage in simple activities related to the theme.

Materials and Prep

  • Construction paper (red, pink, and white)
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Markers or crayons
  • Optional: Heart-shaped cookie cutter or stencil

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  • Create Heart Collage: Cut out heart shapes from the construction paper and let the student glue them onto a larger piece of paper to create a heart collage.
  • Decorate Heart: Provide the student with a blank heart shape and encourage them to decorate it using markers or crayons.
  • Heart Stamping: Dip the heart-shaped cookie cutter or stencil into paint and let the student stamp it onto paper to create heart prints.
  • Sensory Heart Play: Fill a container with rice or sand and hide heart-shaped objects within it. Let the student dig and discover the hidden hearts.
  • Heart Matching Game: Cut out pairs of heart shapes from the construction paper and play a simple matching game with the student.
