Activities

  1. Create a "My Dream Puppy" drawing:

Ask the student to imagine their ideal puppy and draw a picture of it. Encourage them to be creative and include details about the puppy's appearance and personality.

  2. Write a short story about a puppy:

Have the student write a fictional story about a puppy. They can come up with a plot, characters, and a setting. Encourage them to use descriptive language and make the story engaging.

  3. Research different dog breeds:

Using books or the internet, help the student research different dog breeds. Discuss the characteristics, size, and temperament of each breed. Have them make a list of their favorite breeds and why they like them.

  4. Design an obstacle course for a puppy:

Using household objects, have the student design an obstacle course for a puppy. They can create a layout and draw or describe each obstacle. Encourage them to think about what skills a puppy would need to complete the course.

  5. Learn about famous dogs in history:

Read about famous dogs throughout history and discuss their contributions. Examples include Balto, the sled dog, and Laika, the first dog in space. Have the student create a poster or presentation about their favorite famous dog.

  6. Measure and track a puppy's growth:

Using a ruler or measuring tape, have the student measure the height and length of a stuffed animal puppy. Help them create a growth chart to track the puppy's growth over time. Discuss the concept of growth and how puppies grow into adult dogs.

  7. Create a collage of puppy pictures:

Provide magazines or printouts of puppy pictures. Have the student cut out their favorite pictures and create a collage. Encourage them to arrange the pictures in a visually appealing way and discuss the different breeds and features they see.
