Objective
The objective of this lesson is for the 2-year-old homeschool student to learn about emergency service vehicles, their purpose, and their importance in our community.
Materials and Prep
- Toy emergency service vehicles (such as fire truck, police car, ambulance)
- Construction paper
- Markers or crayons
- Scissors
- Tape or glue
- Optional: Picture books about emergency service vehicles
Before starting the lesson, gather all the materials and familiarize yourself with the different types of emergency service vehicles.
Activities
- Create Your Own Emergency Vehicle: Provide the student with construction paper, markers or crayons, scissors, and tape or glue. Encourage them to design and create their own emergency service vehicle using the materials.
- Emergency Vehicle Parade: Line up the toy emergency service vehicles and have a parade around the room. Encourage the student to make siren sounds and pretend to drive the vehicles.
- Matching Game: Show pictures or use toy emergency service vehicles to play a matching game. Place the vehicles in a row and ask the student to find the matching pairs.
- Sing and Dance: Teach the student a song about emergency service vehicles, such as "The Wheels on the Fire Truck." Sing the song together and encourage the student to dance and move along with the music.
