Objective

By the end of this lesson, the 2-year-old student will be able to recognize numbers and practice counting skills through fun activities related to Fireman Sam.

Materials and Prep

  • Fireman Sam toys or pictures
  • Number flashcards (1-5)
  • Construction paper
  • Markers or crayons
  • Scissors
  • Tape or glue

Activities

1. Fireman Sam Counting: Show the student pictures or toys of Fireman Sam characters. Ask them to count how many characters they see and help them practice counting from 1 to 5.

2. Number Matching: Write numbers 1 to 5 on separate pieces of construction paper. Cut out pictures of Fireman Sam characters from magazines or draw your own. Help the student match the correct number of characters to each number card.

3. Fireman Sam Number Hunt: Hide number flashcards around the room. Encourage the student to find the cards and identify the numbers on them. You can also ask them to count the corresponding number of Fireman Sam toys or pictures.

  • "Great job! Now, let's find the number 2 and put two characters next to it."
