Objective
By the end of this lesson, the 2-year-old student will have fun exploring physical movements and understanding basic scientific concepts through engaging provocations.
Materials and Prep
- Open space for physical activities
- Various objects for exploration (e.g., balls, scarves, stuffed animals)
- Optional: Music player for background music
Activities
Dance Party: Play some lively music and encourage the student to move and dance freely. Encourage them to explore different movements such as jumping, spinning, and clapping their hands.
Obstacle Course: Set up a simple obstacle course using pillows, cushions, and other soft objects. Guide the student through the course, helping them crawl under or over the obstacles. Encourage them to use their imagination and pretend they are exploring a jungle or climbing a mountain.
Sensory Exploration: Fill a container with water and provide various objects that float or sink. Let the student explore the objects and discuss their observations. Encourage them to touch, splash, and experiment with the water.
Talking Points
- "Wow, look at all the fun movements we can do! Let's jump like a kangaroo!"
- "Can you crawl under the pillow mountain? Watch out for the sneaky pillow monsters!"
- "What do you think will happen when we put this toy boat in the water? Will it float or sink?"
- "Splash, splash! Water feels wet and cool. How does it feel on your hands?"
