Activities

  • Activity 1: Simple Cutting Practice
  • Begin by demonstrating how to hold the scissors and make straight cuts on a piece of paper. Encourage the student to practice cutting straight lines on their own.

  • Activity 2: Cutting Shapes
  • Show the student how to cut out basic shapes such as squares, circles, and triangles. Provide them with various colored papers and ask them to cut out different shapes.

  • Activity 3: Create a Collage
  • Ask the student to cut out various shapes and objects from different colored papers. Then, have them arrange and glue the cut-outs onto a larger paper to create a colorful collage.

Talking Points

  • Scissors are tools used to cut paper. Always be careful when using them, and remember to hold them properly.
  • When making straight cuts, try to follow the lines as best as you can. It's okay if it's not perfect, practice makes perfect!
  • Shapes are all around us! We can cut out shapes like squares, circles, and triangles from paper.
