Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand and use the passive voice in a foreign language.

Activities

  1. Watch a video or read a short passage in the target language that uses passive voice. Take notes on the sentences and identify the passive voice constructions.

  2. Practice transforming active voice sentences into passive voice sentences. Start with simple sentences and gradually increase the complexity. Write down the new sentences and compare them to the original ones.

  3. Engage in a conversation with a language exchange partner or tutor, using the passive voice. Discuss a topic of interest and try to incorporate passive voice constructions naturally into the conversation.

  4. Write a short paragraph or essay in the target language, using passive voice. Choose a topic that allows for a variety of passive voice constructions and make sure to proofread for accuracy.
