Objective
The objective of this lesson is to help the child respond to their name. By the end of the lesson, the student should be able to recognize and respond when their name is called.
Materials and Prep
- No additional materials are needed for this lesson.
- Make sure the student is familiar with their own name.
Activities
- Activity 1: Name Recognition Game
- Activity 2: Name Song
- Activity 3: Name Puzzle
Call out the student's name and encourage them to respond by saying "yes" or "here". Repeat this activity multiple times, gradually increasing the speed at which you call out their name.
Create a simple song using the student's name. Sing the song together and encourage the child to sing along. Repeat the song several times.
Write the student's name on a piece of paper and cut it into individual letters. Mix up the letters and ask the child to put the puzzle back together by arranging the letters in the correct order.

- When we call your name, we want you to respond by saying "yes" or "here".
- Let's sing a special song with your name in it. Can you sing along with me?
- We have a puzzle with your name on it. Can you put the letters in the right order?
