Materials and Prep
- Water
- Ice cube tray
- Freezer
- Small plastic containers or cups
- Paper and crayons
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Activity 1: Freezing Water
- Activity 2: Exploring Different Shapes
- Activity 3: Drawing Ice
Fill an ice cube tray with water and place it in the freezer. Discuss with the student how the water will turn into ice when it gets cold.
Using small plastic containers or cups, pour water and freeze them in different shapes (e.g., heart, star, circle). Discuss with the student how the water takes the shape of the container when it freezes.
Give the student paper and crayons. Ask them to draw what they think ice looks like. Encourage them to use different colors to represent ice's transparency and reflectiveness.
