Activities
Coloring Activity: Provide the student with paper and crayons or markers. Encourage them to draw pictures related to Passover, such as a Seder plate, matzah, or Moses.
Story Time: Read a simple picture book about Passover to the student, explaining the story and its symbols in an age-appropriate manner.
Matzah Tasting: Introduce the student to matzah, the unleavened bread eaten during Passover. Allow them to taste a small piece and describe its taste and texture.
Singing: Teach the student a simple Passover song, such as "Dayenu" or "Frogs Here, Frogs There." Sing it together and encourage the student to participate.
Talking Points
"Passover is a special holiday that Jewish people celebrate."
"During Passover, we remember when the Jewish people were slaves in Egypt."
"They had to leave Egypt quickly, so they didn't have time for their bread to rise. That's why we eat matzah, which is flat and crispy."
"We have a special dinner called a Seder, where we eat symbolic foods and retell the story of Passover."
"Some of the symbols we use during Passover are a Seder plate, matzah, and a cup of grape juice."
