Objective

By the end of this lesson, the 3 year old student will be able to practice their coloring skills and develop an understanding of colors.

Materials and Prep

  • Coloring sheets or blank paper
  • Crayons or colored pencils
  • A comfortable workspace

Activities

  • Coloring a Rainbow: Provide the student with a coloring sheet of a rainbow and encourage them to color each arc with different colors of their choice. Discuss the colors of the rainbow as they color.
  • Color Sorting: Give the student a set of crayons or colored pencils and ask them to sort them by color. Have them name each color as they sort.
  • Free Drawing: Allow the student to freely draw whatever they like using the crayons or colored pencils. Encourage them to use different colors and praise their creativity.
  • Coloring Patterns: Create a simple pattern using different shapes and colors on a paper. Ask the student to continue the pattern by coloring the next shape accordingly.

  • "Colors are so much fun! Let's use our crayons to color and make beautiful pictures."
  • "What is your favorite color? Mine is blue! Let's find the blue crayon and color something together."
  • "Look at all the different colors we have! Can you name them? Red, yellow, blue, green..."
  • "Wow, you are doing a great job coloring! I love how you used different colors to make your picture bright and colorful."
  • "Let's sort the crayons by color. Can you find all the red crayons and put them together? Great job!"
  • "What do you want to draw? You can use any color you like. Let your imagination run wild!"
  • "Do you see the pattern? It goes red, blue, red, blue... Can you continue the pattern by coloring the next shape?"
