Materials and Prep

  • Alphabet flashcards or printed letters
  • Blank paper or a whiteboard with markers
  • Scissors (if using flashcards)

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  • Alphabet Hunt: Hide the alphabet flashcards around the room and encourage the student to find them. Once found, ask the student to name the letter on each card.
  • Letter Tracing: Give the student a blank paper or a whiteboard and demonstrate how to trace a letter using a marker. Let the student practice tracing different letters.
  • Alphabet Sorting: Cut out the printed letters or use the flashcards. Ask the student to sort the letters into different groups based on their shapes or similarities.
  • Alphabet Song: Sing the alphabet song together, emphasizing the sounds and names of each letter.
  • Letter Match: Write or display random letters on the whiteboard or paper. Give the student the corresponding flashcards or printed letters and ask them to match them correctly.
