Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify different types of plants and understand their basic needs for growth.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and crayons
- A small potted plant
- A watering can or spray bottle
- A small gardening tool or spoon
- A magnifying glass (optional)
Before starting the lesson, make sure the student is familiar with basic colors and shapes.
Activities
- Coloring Activity: Provide the student with paper and crayons. Ask them to draw their favorite plant and color it using different colors.
- Plant Observation: Show the student the potted plant and explain that it is a living thing called a plant. Encourage them to observe the plant closely and describe its different parts (leaves, stem, roots).
- Watering the Plant: Demonstrate how to water the plant using the watering can or spray bottle. Let the student take turns watering the plant, explaining that plants need water to grow.
- Planting Seeds: Using the gardening tool or spoon, help the student plant a few seeds in a small pot or cup filled with soil. Explain that seeds grow into plants when they receive water and sunlight.
- Plant Care: Discuss the importance of taking care of plants. Teach the student how to gently touch the leaves and explain that plants need sunlight and air to survive.
