Each day, ask the student to change the day on the calendar. Encourage them to say the name of the new day out loud.
Ask the student to calculate how many days are left until a certain event. For example, "If today is Monday and the event is on Friday, how many days are left?"
Choose a specific day, such as the student's birthday, and ask them to calculate how many days have passed since that day. For example, "If your birthday was on Tuesday and today is Thursday, how many days have passed?"
