Objective

By the end of this lesson, the 13-year-old homeschool student will be able to create an art piece while incorporating Spanish vocabulary and concepts, demonstrate basic math skills through measurement and calculations, and engage in physical activity to promote overall well-being.

Materials and Prep

• Art supplies (e.g., paper, pencils, colored pencils, markers, paint, paintbrushes)

• Space for physical activity (e.g., outdoor area, open room)

Activities

1. Create a Spanish Vocabulary Art Piece:

   Encourage the student to choose a subject they enjoy drawing or painting. Have them label different parts of their artwork using Spanish vocabulary. For example, if they draw a landscape, they can label elements like "el árbol" (the tree) or "el sol" (the sun).

2. Measure and Calculate Art Dimensions:

   Ask the student to measure the length and width of their art piece using a ruler or measuring tape. Then, have them calculate the area and perimeter of the artwork using basic math formulas. They can record their measurements and calculations in a notebook.

3. Spanish Physical Activity:

   Engage the student in a physical activity that incorporates Spanish vocabulary. For example, you can create a game where they have to perform different exercises (e.g., jumping jacks, lunges) while saying the corresponding Spanish word for each exercise.
