Objective

Materials and Prep

  • Printouts of famous London landmarks (optional)

Prior knowledge of basic art techniques and some knowledge about London would be helpful but not required.

Activities

  1. Create a London-inspired artwork: Encourage the student to draw or paint a scene inspired by London. They can choose to depict a famous landmark, a street view, or anything else that captures the essence of the city.
  2. Write a descriptive paragraph: Ask the student to write a paragraph describing their favorite London landmark. They should include details about its appearance, history, and any interesting facts they discover during their research.
  3. Virtual tour of London: Guide the student to explore online resources that offer virtual tours of London. They can visit famous landmarks like the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, or the British Museum. Encourage them to take notes or sketch interesting things they see during the tour.
  4. Create a timeline: Have the student create a timeline of significant events in London's history. They can include events such as the Great Fire of London, the construction of famous bridges, or the reign of important monarchs.
  5. London trivia quiz: Prepare a list of trivia questions about London's history, landmarks, and culture. Challenge the student to answer as many questions correctly as possible. You can make it a fun competition by keeping score.
