Objective
By the end of this lesson, the 2-year-old student will be able to identify different bugs and their characteristics, as well as develop an interest in bugs.
Materials and Prep
- Pictures or illustrations of bugs
- Construction paper
- Markers or crayons
- Scissors
- Tape or glue
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Create a Bug Collage: Provide the student with construction paper, markers or crayons, and pictures or illustrations of bugs. Encourage the student to cut out the bug pictures and stick them onto the construction paper. They can also draw additional bugs if they wish.
- Bug Hunt: Take the student outside and explore the surroundings for bugs. Encourage them to observe the bugs carefully and point out any interesting features they notice.
- Bug Sorting: Prepare a few pictures or illustrations of different bugs. Ask the student to sort them based on their characteristics, such as the number of legs or wings.
- Bug Songs: Sing or listen to songs about bugs. Encourage the student to move and dance along with the music.
