Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to use basic English vocabulary related to Legos and engage in simple conversations about Lego building.

Materials and Prep

  • Legos (various sizes and colors)
  • Building baseplates
  • Printed pictures of different Lego structures
  • Pen and paper for drawing

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  • Free Building: Allow the student to freely build with the Legos, encouraging them to describe what they are creating using English words.
  • Matching Game: Show the student pictures of different Lego structures and have them match the picture to the corresponding Lego model.
  • Describe and Draw: Choose a Lego structure and describe it to the student using simple English words. Have the student draw what they think you described.
  • Storytelling: Create a story together using Lego characters and structures. Take turns adding to the story using English sentences.
  • Color Sorting: Ask the student to sort the Legos by color and name each color in English.
