Activities

  • Go on a nature walk: Take a hike on a local trail and observe the different plants, animals, and natural features you encounter. Pay attention to any changes in the environment as you move along the trail.

  • Create a nature journal: Bring along a notebook and some colored pencils to document your findings during the hike. Draw pictures of interesting plants, animals, or anything else that catches your attention. Write down any questions you have or observations you make.

  • Identify plants and animals: Bring a field guide or use a mobile app to identify the plants and animals you come across during the hike. Take note of their names and any interesting facts about them.

  • Collect and analyze samples: Collect small samples of rocks, leaves, or other natural materials along the trail. Take them home and use a magnifying glass to examine their textures, colors, and patterns. Compare and contrast the samples you collected.

  • Measure distances: Use a measuring tape or a step counter to measure the distance you walked during the hike. Estimate the length of different sections of the trail and compare your estimates with the actual measurements.
