Objective

By the end of this cross-curriculum lesson, the 7-year-old homeschool student will have gained knowledge and skills in Art, English, Foreign Language, History, Math, Music, Physical Education, Science, and Social Studies.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and coloring materials
  • Storybooks or reading materials
  • World map or globe
  • Counting objects (e.g., buttons, blocks)
  • Musical instruments (if available)
  • Open space for physical activities
  • Science experiment materials (e.g., water, containers, food coloring)

Activities

  • Create an Art masterpiece by drawing or painting a favorite animal or object.
  • Read a storybook or article in English and discuss the main characters and plot.
  • Learn basic greetings and phrases in a Foreign Language of choice.
  • Explore History by identifying different countries on a world map and discussing their cultures.
  • Practice Math skills by counting and sorting objects into groups.
  • Play a musical instrument or experiment with making sounds using everyday objects.
  • Engage in Physical Education activities like jumping jacks, running, or yoga.
  • Conduct a simple Science experiment, such as mixing colors or observing water evaporation.
  • Discover Social Studies by discussing community helpers and their roles.

  • Art:
    • "Let's create a beautiful artwork by drawing or painting. What animal or object would you like to make?"
    • "What colors do you want to use to make your artwork stand out?"
  • English:
    • "What is the title of the storybook we are going to read today?"
    • "Who are the main characters in the story? Can you describe them?"
  • Foreign Language:
    • "How do you say 'hello' in the language we are learning today?"
    • "Can you teach me another phrase in this language?"
  • History:
    • "Point to different countries on the map. What do you think people do differently in each country?"
