Objective

Materials and Prep

  • A computer or tablet with internet access (optional)
  • Paper and crayons/markers
  • Books about dogs
  • Stuffed animal dog (optional)

Prior knowledge required: Basic understanding of colors and shapes.

Activities

  • Draw Your Dream Dog: Encourage the student to draw their dream dog using paper and crayons/markers. They can get creative with colors and patterns!
  • Read a Dog Book: Choose a dog-themed book to read together. Discuss the different types of dogs, their appearances, and behaviors.
  • Identify Dog Breeds: Show pictures of different dog breeds and ask the student to identify them. Talk about the unique characteristics of each breed.
  • Pretend Play: Use a stuffed animal dog (if available) to engage in pretend play. Encourage the student to imagine different scenarios and interact with the dog.
