Objective

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencils or colored pencils
  • Artworks (can be printed images or accessed online)

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Choose an artwork that interests you. Study it carefully and write down your initial thoughts and observations about it.

  2. Research the background and context of the artwork. Find out about the artist, the time period, and any relevant historical or cultural factors that may have influenced the creation of the artwork.

  3. Explore different interpretations of the artwork. Look for articles, critiques, or discussions that offer different perspectives on its meaning and symbolism.

  4. Create your own interpretation of the artwork. Use your initial observations, research, and the different perspectives you've encountered to develop your own understanding of the artwork's message or purpose.

  5. Express your interpretation through your own artwork. Use your chosen medium (pencils, colored pencils, etc.) to create a visual representation of your understanding of the artwork. Be creative and let your imagination guide you.
