Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will have learned basic cheer movements and be able to perform a simple cheer routine.
Materials and Prep
- Pom-poms (can be made by using tissue paper or old newspaper)
- Comfortable clothing and shoes
- A clear space to move around
- Positive energy and enthusiasm!
Activities
- Warm-up: Start by stretching and doing simple exercises like jumping jacks or toe touches to get the body ready for cheerleading.
- Learn Basic Cheer Movements: Teach the student basic cheer movements such as clapping, arm motions, and jumps. Practice each movement individually and then combine them into a short routine.
- Create a Cheer: Encourage the student to come up with their own cheer using the movements they have learned. Help them with the words and encourage creativity.
- Showtime: Have the student perform their cheer routine for you or any family members who are available. Applaud and cheer them on!
