Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and locate different countries on a world map using Lego bricks as a visual aid.

Materials and Prep

  • Lego bricks (various colors)
  • World map (printed or drawn on a large sheet of paper)
  • A list of countries and their corresponding Lego brick colors (preparation)

Activities

  1. Introduce the concept of geography by explaining that it is the study of the Earth's physical features, climate, and human populations.
  2. Show the world map to the student and discuss the continents and major oceans.
  3. Ask the student to select a Lego brick color to represent each continent. For example, yellow for North America, blue for Europe, green for Africa, etc.
  4. Using the list of countries and their corresponding Lego brick colors, ask the student to locate and place Lego bricks on the map to represent different countries.
  5. Encourage the student to research and learn about each country as they place the Lego bricks. Discuss interesting facts about each country.
  6. Once all the countries have been marked with Lego bricks, have the student identify and name the countries on the map.

  • "Now, let's see if you can identify and name the countries on the map. Can you find Brazil?"
