Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create a Solar System art project using basic materials.

Materials and Prep

  • Construction paper (various colors)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Markers or colored pencils
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Reference materials on the Solar System (books or online resources)

Before starting the lesson, familiarize yourself with the names and characteristics of the planets in our Solar System.

Activities

  1. Research and gather information about the Solar System using books or online resources.
  2. Draw and cut out the Sun and all eight planets on different colored construction paper.
  3. Label each planet with its name.
  4. Arrange the Sun and planets in the correct order, starting with the Sun in the center.
  5. Glue the Sun and planets onto a larger piece of construction paper to create a Solar System collage.
  6. Use markers or colored pencils to add details and decorations to your Solar System collage.
