Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to describe different features of places and understand how people are connected to those places.

Materials and Prep

  • Map of the world
  • Coloring pencils/markers
  • Pen and paper
  • Books or online resources about different countries

No prior knowledge required, just bring your curiosity!

Activities

  • Locate and Color: Use the map to locate different countries. Color each country with a different color and write down one interesting fact about each country.
  • Interview a Family Member: Ask a family member about a place they have visited. Draw a picture of that place and write down what your family member told you about it.
  • Story Time: Read a story about a child from a different country. Discuss how their life might be similar or different from yours.

  • Exploring Places: "Places can be big or small, near or far. We can explore places on maps or by visiting them."
  • Features of Places: "Places have different features like mountains, rivers, and buildings. These features make each place unique."
  • Connections to Places: "People have special connections to places. It can be where they were born, where their family is from, or where they have visited."
  • Learning from Others: "We can learn a lot about different places by listening to stories from people who have been there. Everyone's experiences are valuable."
