Materials and Prep

  • Pencils or colored markers
  • Your favorite book or story
  • Positive attitude and creativity!

No prior knowledge needed, just bring your enthusiasm!

Activities

  • Write a paragraph describing your favorite character from the book you chose. Include details about their appearance, personality, and actions.
  • Create a new ending for the story you read. Write a paragraph explaining how the story changes with your new ending.
  • Draw a picture to go along with your paragraph. This will help you visualize your writing and make it even more fun!

Talking Points

  • Let's start by thinking about our favorite character. What do they look like? What do they like to do? Let's write it down together. Remember, details make our writing more interesting! - "Let's describe our character with lots of details to make our story exciting!"
  • Now, let's imagine a new ending for our story. How can we make it different? Let's write a paragraph explaining our new ending. Be as creative as you can! - "Imagine if the story ended differently, what would happen next?"
  • After writing our paragraphs, let's draw a picture to match our story. This will help us visualize our ideas and bring our writing to life! - "Let's draw a picture that goes with our story to make it even more fun!"
