Materials and Prep

Materials needed: paper, pencil, eraser

Prep: Ensure a quiet and comfortable workspace for writing.

Activities

  • Activity 1: Brainstorming - Think of a fun story idea and jot down key points.

  • Activity 2: Drafting - Write the first draft of your story, focusing on details and creativity.

  • Activity 3: Revising - Read through your draft and make improvements by adding descriptive language or dialogue.

  • Activity 4: Editing - Check for correct punctuation, spelling, and grammar in your story.

  • Activity 5: Illustrating - Create a picture to go along with your story to engage your target audience.

Talking Points

  • When planning a story, think about what makes a good beginning. You can start with "Once upon a time..."

  • Use descriptive words to make your story more interesting. For example, "The giant, green dragon roared loudly."

  • Remember to use punctuation marks like periods at the end of sentences and commas in lists. This helps your readers understand your story better.

  • After you finish writing, read your story out loud to see if it makes sense. You can also ask someone else to read it and give you feedback.
