Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to use materials and tools to develop solutions for a need or opportunity.

Materials and Prep

Materials needed:

  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Markers or crayons

Before starting, make sure you have a clear workspace to work on your projects.

Activities

1. Create a cardboard maze: Use the cardboard to design and build a maze. Challenge yourself to find the shortest path through the maze.

2. Design a tool holder: Think of a tool or equipment you use often, such as pencils or rulers. Create a holder for them using the cardboard and decorate it with markers or crayons.

3. Build a mini catapult: Use the materials to build a small catapult. Test different designs to see which one launches a small object the farthest.
