By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify the sources of clothes from plants and animals.

Materials and Prep

Materials needed: paper, pencil, internet access for research

Prior knowledge: Basic understanding of plants and animals

Activities

  • Research and create a list of clothing items that come from plants (e.g., cotton, linen, bamboo).

  • Draw a picture or create a collage of different animals that provide materials for clothing (e.g., sheep for wool, silkworms for silk).

  • Watch a video or read a book about the process of turning plant fibers or animal materials into wearable clothing.
