Materials and Prep

  • A globe
  • A world map
  • Coloring pencils or markers
  • Blank paper
  • Excitement to learn!

No prior knowledge needed, just come with an open mind and willingness to explore!

Activities

  • Create Your Own Map: Draw a map of your room or house. Include all the important things in your map like your bed, toys, and books.
  • Color the Continents: Use the world map to color each continent with a different color. Can you name all the continents?
  • Find Your Location: Use the globe to find where you live. Can you find other countries or oceans?

Talking Points

  • Maps and globes are tools we use to show us where places are in the world. You can think of them as special pictures that help us understand our planet better.
  • When we look at a map, we can see different shapes and colors that represent countries, cities, oceans, and more. It's like a big puzzle of the world!
  • Globes are round like a ball because the Earth is round too. They show us how the Earth looks from space. It's like holding the whole world in your hands!
