Objective
By the end of this lesson, Harrison will be able to apply math concepts in a fun and engaging way through Minecraft activities.
Materials and Prep
- Minecraft game
- Paper and pencil
- Basic understanding of addition and subtraction
Activities
- Mine for Math: Have Harrison gather resources in Minecraft and use them to solve addition and subtraction problems. For example, if he collects 10 blocks and then uses 3 blocks, how many blocks does he have left?
- Build a Math House: Ask Harrison to design a house in Minecraft using specific dimensions. For instance, create a room that is 6 blocks wide and 8 blocks long. Then, calculate the perimeter and area of the room.
- Treasure Hunt: Hide virtual treasures in Minecraft and create math riddles for Harrison to solve in order to find them. For example, "If you have 5 diamonds and find 3 more, how many diamonds do you have in total?"
