Objective

By the end of this lesson, Amari will be able to recognize and enjoy music from Sesame Street.

Materials and Prep

  • Device to play music (phone, tablet, computer)
  • Internet connection to access Sesame Street songs
  • Space for dancing and moving around

Activities

  • Sing Along: Play Amari's favorite Sesame Street songs and encourage singing along. You can use props like stuffed animals to make it more interactive.
  • Dance Party: Have a mini dance party to the music. Show Amari some simple dance moves and encourage movement to the beat.
  • Instrument Play: Use household items as makeshift instruments (pots and pans as drums, wooden spoons as drumsticks) and play along with the music.

  • Elmo says: "Let's listen to Elmo's favorite song! Can you clap your hands to the music?"
  • Big Bird asks: "Do you hear the music? It's so fun! Let's dance like Big Bird!"
  • Cookie Monster sings: "Music makes me happy! Can you stomp your feet to the beat?"
