Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will learn about change and continuity in simple terms and understand how things can stay the same or be different over time.

Materials and Prep

  • Colorful pictures of familiar objects or places
  • Paper and crayons
  • Enthusiasm and curiosity!

No special preparation needed, just be ready to have fun exploring together!

Activities

  • Draw and Compare: Draw a picture of your favorite toy or a pet. Then draw a picture of the same thing but how it might look different in the future.
  • Memory Game: Gather some objects or pictures of things you use every day. Talk about how they are the same or different from when you first got them. Play a memory game with the objects.
  • Story Time: Read a simple story about a character who goes on a journey and how things change or stay the same along the way.

Talking Points

  • "Things change when they become different. For example, a baby grows into a big kid!"
  • "Sometimes things stay the same. Like how your favorite toy will always be your favorite toy, even if it gets a little worn out."
  • "Just like how the seasons change from winter to spring, things around us can change too. But some things, like our love for our family, stay the same forever!"
