Objective
By the end of this lesson, Kelsey will be able to understand the concept of more or less and practice comparing quantities.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil or crayons
No prior knowledge needed, just bring your enthusiasm!
Activities
- More or Less Drawings: Draw two sets of objects on the paper. Ask Kelsey to color the set that has more objects.
- Sorting Game: Prepare a mix of small toys or objects. Let Kelsey sort them into two groups - more and less.
- Counting Challenge: Show Kelsey two groups of objects and ask which group has more or less. Then count the objects in each group together.
Talking Points
- Point 1: "Let's look at these two groups. Can you tell me which group has more colors?"
- Point 2: "Now, let's sort these toys. Can you put the ones with more wheels in this group and the ones with less wheels in the other?"
- Point 3: "Great job! Now, can you count how many apples are in this group and how many in that group? Which has more?"
